The legendary gaming platform of the ZKM, "ZKM Gameplay," is launching a new edition titled "zkm gameplay. the next level." All gamers, as well as visitors who have little experience with video games, are invited to engage in informative, critical, and creative exchange – and of course, to play – at the exhibition. The new concept is based not only on the experiences of "ZKM Gameplay" but also on the exhibition "Games and Politics," which has been showcased in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut on all continents since 2017. Medium of the Digital Society The fact that video games have evolved into a leading medium is no longer a bold thesis regarding the significance of this interactive and multimedia medium. It has moved far from its origins as a laboratory experiment and toy, becoming "the" medium of the digital society, situated between pop culture, entertainment, and art.
