Four people from Lauffen are being introduced. Cost: €6 per person. Tour guide Klaus Koch will illuminate the life, work, and significance of Oskar von Miller, Robert Gradmann, Lina Hähnle, and Friedrich Hölderlin in a public tour lasting approximately two hours. These four individuals have a special connection to Lauffen am Neckar. The public tour will take place for the first time in a new format. The tour guide team, consisting of Anette Schäfer, Marianne Schmid, and Klaus Koch, will present the four personalities in an informative and entertaining manner. Hölderlin and Gradmann were born in Lauffen and spent their first four years of life there. Both studied theology. Hölderlin (1770 – 1843) then turned to literature and gained worldwide significance as a poet and philosopher. Gradmann (1865 – 1950) was a pastor, librarian, biologist, geographer, professor, and is considered a pioneer of ecology. Lina Hähnle (1851 – 1941) founded the "Bund für Vogelschutz" (League for Bird Protection) in 1899. As its long-time chairwoman, she established one of the first nature reserves in Germany on the "Vogelinsel" (Bird Island) - also known as Nightingale Island - in Lauffen in 1908. She purchased the Bird Island with her private funds. Due to her commitment to bird protection, she is also referred to as the "German Bird Mother." Today, her pioneering role in nature conservation is continued by NABU (Nature Conservation Union) Germany. Oskar von Miller (1855 – 1934) realized the world's first three-phase power transmission from Lauffen am Neckar to Frankfurt am Main in 1891 as an electrical engineer and project manager. The electricity generated in Lauffen was transported over a distance of 175 km, helping to establish this type of power transmission worldwide. Further information: Meeting point: Rathaus courtyard, Rathausstr. 10, 74348 Lauffen. Costs: Adults €6; children participate free of charge. Special tour on March 9 with Anette Schäfer, Marianne Schmid, and Klaus Koch as the tour guide team. Registration: Klaus Koch, Tel. 0152 27784713 or Klaus.Koch.Lauffen@gmx.de.
