Unique in its kind, it is the only high bunker specifically constructed for air raid protection in Heilbronn during World War II. A remarkable detail of its history is the entrance, which was once at ground level and accessible via a walkway that led from the slaughterhouse across Theresienstraße. After the war, the walkway was removed, significantly restricting access to the tower.
