Second World War refuge Discover a real treasure of the city with us: the striking high-rise bunker on Theresienwiese. Built in the fall of 1940, this high-rise bunker stands as a silent witness to a time marked by air raids and the need for protection. Unique in its kind, it is the only high-rise bunker that was built specifically for air raid protection in Heilbronn during the Second World War. A remarkable detail of its history is the entrance, which was once at ground level and accessible via a footbridge that led from the slaughterhouse across Theresienstraße. After the war, the footbridge was removed, which severely restricted access to the tower.
