The conviction and burning of two women from Ravensburg in 1484 marked the beginning of the first systematic persecution of women as witches in Germany, carried out by the papal inquisitor Heinrich Institoris.
On this tour, you will be confronted with the scenes of witch persecution in Ravensburg: the Liebfrauenkirche, the Grüner Turm prison, the courtroom in the town hall, and the cabinet exhibition in the Humpis-Quartier museum. Learn about the victims and perpetrators of the Ravensburg witch trials and the devastating effect of the Malleus Maleficarum, the work of the inquisitor Heinrich Institoris.
