Finally, 'Dolce Vita' and 'Savoir vivre' are making their way back into the streets of Tübingen. For five days, the old town will be bustling with market activity as traders from the partner cities of Aix-en-Provence and Perugia come to visit. With a colorful array of culinary specialties and handcrafted products, the French and Italian guests transform the city into a Mediterranean market village every year. The vibrant stalls attract over 100,000 visitors each year. You can taste what the Umbrian-Provençal cuisine has to offer, enchanting both the nose and palate: lavender, pâtés, liqueurs, wines, hams, olive purees, spices, herbs, sheep and goat cheeses, bouillabaisse, mussels, jams, honey, and truffles. Those who have never tried the famous Calissons from Aix, which according to legend were invented in 1473 for the second wedding of French King René, will not forget their taste after visiting the market.
