Tübingen Duck Race

Since 1999, the ducks have been released into the water once a year in Tübingen. Then it gets crowded and yellow on the section of the Neckar between the Alleebrücke at the upper end of the Neckar Island and the Neckar Bridge. Several thousand yellow rubber ducks, each marked with a starting number and sporting a blissful smile around their beaks, drift more down the Neckar than they swim competitively for the race. After all, these ducks are known to belong to a species whose natural habitat is bathtubs. The "Round Table," the inventor and organizer of the duck race, traditionally donates the considerable proceeds to several social institutions in Tübingen and abroad. The start is at 2 PM. The "tickets" are available at the Verkehrsverein at Neckarbrücke 1 (Tourist Information).
