This year, the Bad Mergentheim Winter Magic promises exciting moments against a festive backdrop. In the charming hut village, the 300 m² ice rink offers winter fun, sports, and games. From November 7, 2025, to January 6, 2026, visitors can expect a variety of culinary delights, cozy wooden houses for a comfortable stay, and the curling rink, which was so well-received last year that it must definitely be included again. NEW: The ice rink and the hut village will be completely covered.
Visitors to the Bad Mergentheim "Winter Magic" can look forward to more than ever this year: Rudi Bauer is taking fresh approaches to provide the regular audience with an even more beautiful ambiance and to surprise new guests with the ice rink and the unique hut village. "For the first time, we will cover the approximately 300 square meter real ice area and the entire hut village, so the Winter Magic will work even in the rain," says the organizer. Of course, there will still be a cozy outdoor area for relaxation. To realize this development, the Winter Magic will take place this year at the Volksfestplatz, as previously announced. Whether such a setup is possible in the historic castle courtyard, the previous location of the event, will need to be assessed. The State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Württemberg have initiated corresponding soil investigations. The castle and the organizer emphasize their close coordination and good cooperation. After all, they have jointly made Bad Mergentheim a hotspot for winter skating fun over the past four years and established a format with regional appeal. Detailed information can be found here. However, the initial focus is on what is upcoming: the ice rink and hut village will present themselves in the new season 2025/2026 protected from all weather adversities. Daylight will filter through the transparent "walls" on the outside. A beautifully designed entrance portal leads directly to a charming little marketplace, around which inviting wooden houses for sitting, culinary delights, and beverage stalls are grouped. Hand-painted signs guide the way. Stylish lanterns provide cozy lighting. The 300 square meter real ice rink forms the center of the attractions. Now, visitors will find seating on three sides of the ice surface to rest or watch their loved ones skate. No matter what antics the weather throws at them: the fun on the ice for young and old remains undisturbed. For the first time, thanks to the larger area for changing shoes, there will also be shelves for storing shoes and valuables. "Of course, the curling rink is also part of the new concept," emphasizes Rudi Bauer. This special and sought-after leisure activity can already be booked online starting in October. The children's carousel will also remain part of the overall experience. "The new, contiguous area allows us to create a unit that was not possible before," describes Rudi Bauer the approach of the new concept. Many ideas and financial resources are being invested in the equipment of the weather-protected "Winter Magic." Visitors should feel comfortable in a cozy atmosphere. Special coziness is created thanks to many lovingly chosen details. Emil, the moose with sunglasses and the new mascot of the ice rink, will also contribute to the excitement. Martin Breunig from Hemmersheim – successful in many world cups in chainsaw carving – has been commissioned to "carve" Emil in life size, measuring 2.50 meters in length and 2.30 meters in height, from a single piece of wood in his own way. "This will be an additional eye-catcher!" promises Rudi Bauer. Lángos variations, delicious grilled items, sweet and savory snacks, as well as a diverse selection of mulled wine and soft drinks will satisfy hunger and thirst. The Winter Magic 2025/2026 will be found starting Friday, November 7, at the Volksfestplatz of the spa town, directly adjacent to the area of the motorhome parking spaces. Public parking is available at the festival grounds. The event can also be easily reached by city bus via the "Solymar Therme" stop. The organizer further promotes discovering the Winter Magic on foot from the town through a short walk in the winter spa park. The Winter Magic is open daily, except on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and Tuesdays. An exception is Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The opening hours are always up to date on the website www.winterzauber-mgh.com. The curling rink can also be booked through this website. Additionally, the rates can be found there. The ice rink can still be booked on Tuesdays for private events. Among the well-known event formats is the "Ice Disco" on Fridays. Wednesdays feature "Family Day" with special discounts. Skates can be rented on-site in all sizes. For school classes, the ice rink is available before the holidays – except on Tuesdays – from 9 AM to 12 PM at discounted prices. Bookings can be made via email to: info@winterzauber-mgh.com. The Main-Tauber Christmas Circus, also organized by Rudi Bauer, will be set up a few weeks later in close proximity to the ice rink. The new gala program has already been presented, and ticket sales are underway. The organizer hopes for synergy effects from the spatially close connection, which should benefit not only him but also the many fans of the two popular winter highlights in Bad Mergentheim.
