Exhibition: "Longing for Nature"

The special exhibition showcases nature representations by Klaus Herzer from various phases of his work. The focus is on the "moods" expressed in the paintings. The special exhibition "Longing for Nature" spans the range from landscape representations by Klaus Herzer from the late 1970s to the present. The emphasis is not on specifically identifiable topographies, but rather on the symbolic nature of untouched nature for human existence. Instead of recognizing places, the focus is on "moods." These can be conveyed through the long-stretched horizons of lonely Alb landscapes in the immediate vicinity as well as through a rugged archipelago formation far to the north. The painterly textures in the printing block or the light spots captured in the monotypes lead to a contemplative immersion in nature, reminiscent of what we know from the visual arts, literature, and music of German Romanticism. The acute threat to our natural foundations of life lends these "speaking landscapes" by Klaus Herzer an unprecedented relevance in their reduction to the essentials. c.o.
