Tower Climbing - Flour Sack

The landmark of the city invites you to enjoy a view over the city. On some days, you can see all the way to Lake Constance and the Säntis! The Mehlsack was built around 1425 and rises in radiant white above the city. Its name is derived from its round shape and the light plaster (white like flour). Ravensburg is known as the "City of Towers and Gates." The landmark of Ravensburg is the brilliantly white Mehlsack, which can be seen from almost anywhere in Ravensburg. The tower is located south of the old town, near the Veitsburg. The original name of the tower was: "White Tower at St. Michael," named after the adjacent monastery chapel, which was destroyed by a lightning strike in 1824. However, records indicate that it was already referred to as the "Mehlsack" in the 16th century.
