Museum Elzach

The municipal museum in Elzach has been located since 1967 across from Nikolausplatz in the old town hall. The local history collection of the city of Elzach has been situated in a central location on the main street opposite the Nikolaus fountain since 1967. The building is known to many older residents of Elzach as the "old town hall." In fact, the city administration was located there until 1909, before moving to the current town hall. In the 17th century, the formerly existing arcade vault of the ground floor served as a court and marketplace, making it the political and economic center of the small town alongside Nikolausplatz. The collection includes testimonies of Elzach's city history. Additionally, numerous exhibits related to everyday culture reflect the living and working habits of earlier generations. The Elzach Carnival also finds its rightful place in the museum's premises. A library equipped with books, writings, and estates invites visitors and interested individuals to browse and linger. The museum is open every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and by appointment.
