By train through the Swabian Jura

The Swabian Jura Railway runs from Ulm via Schelklingen up to Münsingen and further to Engstingen until Gammertingen, passing through typical landscapes such as orchards and juniper heaths, through the romantic Schmiechtal right into the Swabian Jura Biosphere Reserve. In fact, the death sentence for the railway line was already pronounced in 1999, when the region managed to preserve the tracks at the last moment through a collaboration between municipalities, districts, and the state of Baden-Württemberg.
