Experience Days: Glassblowing Course in the Glass Workshop

Experience the fascinating art of glassblowing in Dirk Bürklin's traditional glass workshop and, under expert guidance, shape your own artwork from 1,230-degree hot glass. In this one-hour course, you will combine ancient craft techniques with your own creativity and take home your self-created glass artwork the following day. Immerse yourself in the captivating world of glassblowing and witness firsthand how true masterpieces are created from sand and fire! Dirk Bürklin is one of the few remaining glassmakers in the Black Forest who authentically keeps the traditional craft alive. For 27 years, the native of Freiburg has been working in his workshop directly across from the historic open-air museum Klausenhof, combining ancient recipes and techniques with modern skills. In this one-hour course, you will learn the basics of glassblowing and see how the 1,230-degree hot glass mass is shaped with skilled hands and large wooden tongs. Under Dirk's expert guidance, your own glass masterpiece will take shape. The self-designed glass spheres can be picked up the next morning, as they need to cool in the oven until then.
