On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, a Romantic Piano Soirée will take place at the Martinskirche in Müllheim at 7:30 PM, featuring the two pianists Karina Cveigoren and her daughter Ada Heinke. The program includes Ludwig van Beethoven's "Waldstein Sonata" op. 53, Robert Schumann's Symphonic Etudes op. 13, Frédéric Chopin's Fantasie op. 49, and Franz Liszt's "Mephisto Waltz." Ludwig van Beethoven, with his piano sonata op. 53, the so-called "Waldstein Sonata," opened the door wide to musical Romanticism. The French have given the sonata the nickname "L’aurore" due to the atmospheric beginning of the third movement. The pianistic effects, which produce noisy sounds especially on the fortepiano and influenced Franz Liszt in his expansion of the sound spectrum, are also remarkable. In this respect, the program can certainly be called a Romantic Piano Soirée, reminiscent of those that were very popular in the concert halls and salons of wealthy nobles and citizens in the 19th century. Karina Cveigoren will perform Schumann's Symphonic Etudes and Liszt's breathtaking Mephisto Waltz. She was trained in Freiburg by Vitaly Margulis and Michel Beroff. The Badische Zeitung praised her as a "pianist of extraordinary presence, who plays with unusual intensity." Ada Heinke will present Beethoven's grand Sonata op. 53, which he dedicated to Count Waldstein, and Chopin's Fantasie. She is currently completing her piano studies with Roman Zaslavsky in Vienna. After winning her first national prize at "Jugend musiziert" in 2017, she has also shone as a prizewinner in international competitions in the following years.
