WKO x Simone Lamsma - Transfigured Night

The Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma, praised for her "brilliant... refined, expressive, and intense" (Cleveland Plain Dealer) playing, is regarded as one of the most distinctive musical personalities in classical music. She is frequently described as one of the most remarkable and captivating figures in the classical music scene, with her "absolutely stunning" (Chicago Tribune) performances. The same can be said without reservation for the gentlemen whose works are on the program, including the soloist of the premiere of Beethoven's Violin Concerto. Franz Clement, a child prodigy, had only two days to prepare for the performance of the Violin Concerto and, according to eyewitnesses, played the concert with the famous timpani motif, the floating main theme, and the exuberant hunting theme in the finale "like a young god." Arnold Schönberg's musical personality is well-known, as is his musical language: "Verklärte Nacht" is a masterpiece of late Romanticism that utilizes the expressive power of dissonance and chromaticism to create a passionate, emotional narrative. At the podium, there will be a joyful reunion with the charismatic American Case Scaglione, who served as the chief conductor of the WKO from 2018 to 2024.
