James Rizzi (1950 – 2011), born in Brooklyn, is considered one of the most popular representatives of Pop Art. His comic-like, intricate cityscapes, inhabited by laughing houses, cheerful people, and the famous Rizzi Birds, are bursting with joy for life. The exhibition at the NKT is designed for discovery and experience, featuring new thematic worlds that open fresh perspectives. It addresses the question of how to find a home in a foreign place and invites visitors to explore Rizzi's artistic world in its many facets: from early impulses and developments to his deep connection with his hometown of New York, as well as his travels—especially to Germany, where his work resonated particularly well. The New Art Museum Tübingen (NKT) is a forum for contemporary art and a meeting place for all art and culture enthusiasts. The distinctive cube, built as a bold, two-story construction of steel and glass in an ecologically sustainable manner, serves as a light-filled exhibition space for internationally renowned artists. The former studio of New York Pop Art legend James Rizzi in SoHo/Manhattan has found a new and lasting home at the NKT, complete with many original pieces of furniture and artworks. The spectacular exhibitions in 2026 will be announced on www.n-k-t.de and through leading media outlets. Additionally, there will be joint cultural experience tours and offerings in collaboration with the Tübingen Tourist Association.
