Night Watchman and Night Stories

Accompany the night watchman on his tour through Wolfach. "Hear ye, people, and let it be known..." - this echoes through the night streets and alleys of the town in the evening. Then the night watchman, equipped with a lantern and halberd, begins his round. With a distinctive voice, he recites historical texts at several stations. The sound of his horn signals the start at the town hall. The route leads through the main street towards the town bridge, from there along the Kinzig River to the Weibergraben, and back through Schlossstraße to the marketplace. In the past, it would have been his duty to remind the tavern dwellers and night walkers of the hour. He was also responsible for ensuring that the doors of houses and city gates were properly locked. Today, the night watchman shares his knowledge of this tradition for the entertainment of guests and visitors.
