The MUNDOLOGIA series in Müllheim presents: New Zealand – Half a Year Through the Land of Kiwis Heiko Beyer Thursday, January 22, 2026, 7:30 PM Bürgerhaus Müllheim Primeval fern forests, fjords, golden beaches, rolling pastures, and volcanic cones – New Zealand's landscapes are extraordinarily diverse and paradisiacally beautiful. Heiko Beyer showcases the charms of the islands through brilliant photographs, video sequences, time-lapse footage, and drone shots, while thrillingly recounting his experiences and encounters. New Zealand – two islands at the most beautiful end of the world. Photojournalist Heiko Beyer has traveled through the country and its overwhelming nature for half a year. Long hiking tours with a backpack and tent take him to places off the beaten path, through lush rainforests, to secluded beaches, impressive glaciers, volcanoes, and romantic lakes. One of New Zealand's most famous long-distance hiking trails, the Milford Track, leads him to the West Coast of the South Island, to the eponymous sound, where massive waterfalls and peaks shape the scenery. He meets the Kiwis – not only the name of the green fruit and the flightless, nocturnal national bird, but also what the residents of New Zealand call themselves. He encounters gold prospectors and farmers and participates in the traditional sheep drive. He accompanies conservationists who care for the peculiar, highly endangered Kiwi bird. He goes fishing with the Māori, the indigenous people, and gains insights into their traditions. And he visits the legendary Wild Food Festival in Hokitika, where unusual dishes await hungry visitors. The journey is long, but it is worth it. Heiko Beyer's new travel report is a compelling love letter to New Zealand. Detailed information and online tickets are available at www.mundologia.de.
