The Breisgau Accordion Orchestra will perform a concert on Sunday, October 26, at 6 PM, in the Martinskirche in Müllheim. Under the direction of district conductor Franco Coali, a highly varied program will be presented, ranging from classical arrangements to original literature. The Breisgau Accordion Orchestra, known as a district orchestra, was founded in 1997 and consists of conductors, accordion teachers, and outstanding accordionists as a project orchestra, aiming to present sophisticated accordion literature under changing leadership. The area of operation extends across the entire "Breisgau" district in the German Accordion Association (DHV), which includes the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen as well as the city of Freiburg, currently comprising a total of 44 member associations.
In addition to two overtures, including Auber's "Fra Daviolo," a Hungarian Dance by Johannes Brahms, and Edvard Grieg's "Morning Mood," the 31 musicians will also present original literature with the "Sinfonietta Dramatika" and a three-movement work by Hans Boll. Furthermore, two movements from Gustav Holst's "The Planets," Mars and Jupiter, as well as the emotionally charged "Romance del diablo" by tango king Astor Piazzolla and the fiery Sabre Dance by Khachaturian are on the program.
Franco Coali, conductor of the current orchestra project, is no stranger to Müllheim, as he began his musical career at the Municipal Music School and is now its deputy director. Since September 2023, Franco Coali has been the district conductor of the DHV district of Breisgau. For more information, visit www.dhv-breisgau.de.
