Old German Christmas Market Bad Wimpfen

Bad Wimpfen invites you to its Christmas market in the historic old town on the first three Advent weekends – one of the oldest in Germany. Tradition, historical backdrop, and much more.

During the first three Advent weekends, the sweet scent of baked apples, mulled wine, fir branches, and gingerbread in Bad Wimpfen reminds us that Christmas Eve is just around the corner. The listed old town, with the unique atmosphere of the Staufer castle complex, once again serves as the venue for its well-known Old German Christmas Market, which is famous far beyond the borders of the region. Over 100 stalls offer a variety of treats, primarily focusing on handcrafted goods. The accompanying program provides highlights for visitors of all ages. Among other things, there are night watchman tours and small gifts from the Christkind and St. Nicholas.

Another attraction at the Old German Christmas Market is the gourmet village in the Wormser Hof, where visitors can look forward to culinary delights. More about the traditions and customs of the pre-Christmas season can be learned by visitors through the accompanying program "It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas..." The program includes a themed tour on "Customs & Traditions," a break in a cozy room including a tasting of Wimpfen herbal liqueur, a voucher for a hot drink, and the Christmas market mug.

Note: For sustainability reasons, all drinks at the market will be served in reusable cups. Visitors can bring their own cups or purchase them at the market. (For hygienic and technical reasons, the cups cannot be washed on the market grounds - unfortunately, the operators cannot accept the return of the cups!)

Getting to the Christmas market by public transport: Bad Wimpfen is located on the DB line 706: Heilbronn - Heidelberg (via Sinsheim) and on the S-Bahn line S41/42. It is about a 5-minute walk from the train station to the market area. Here you can find the timetable information...

Information on how to get there: by car: about 5 km from the A6, exit Obereisesheim or Bad Rappenau; by public transport: about 300 m from Bad Wimpfen train station with S-Bahn and DB connections to Heilbronn and Mannheim (via Sinsheim).

Parking: In Bad Wimpfen in the valley, approximately 2000 free parking spaces are available. A shuttle bus is available on Saturday and Sunday for €1 per person. Free parking for buses is available at the bus parking lot Seegarten (about a 10-minute walk to the Christmas market).
