We find ourselves backstage of a circus and theater group. It is their last performance. In the form they are currently working, they will not continue. No one knows what comes next. In the ensemble, which consists of older and younger performers, the tension of farewell spreads. Tonight, they want to give the audience a special treat. For this, everyone wants to slip into their favorite role one last time. It will be a theater without many words. They want to show clowning, the absurd, and the curious, to enchant and entice laughter – but then something happens that has never occurred in all these decades, an incident, a gap in the performance that cannot be concealed, where unexpectedly everything is brought to the point. "About Butterflies and Hobby Horses" is a theatrical project that, with a touch of wit – first from a realistic, then from a poetic perspective – showcases both the art and the necessity of transformation.
