During World War II, Erhardt was drafted into military service in 1941 and served as a pianist in the Navy orchestra. After the war, he worked as a radio host and appeared in several film comedies in the 1950s. He passed away on June 5, 1979. In the estate of the outstanding humorist, numerous piano compositions were found that he had written between 1925 and 1931.
