Burladingen Carnival Play

On Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Narrenzunft Nautle will host the traditional Fasnet play in Josengasse at the guild hall. Fasnet plays were already performed in Burladingen before 1900, where theater pieces were staged outdoors on a wagon. This tradition continued between the world wars. Even after the Second World War, theater continued to be performed, albeit then also in the Lindensaal. However, during the 1950s, the tradition of the Fasnet play completely faded away. In 2006, the Narrenzunft Nautle revived this tradition to give the Burladingen street Fasnet a small piece of its former character back. The "Hauzeglader" and bands will be out and about in the town center starting at 9:30 AM: already in the morning, over 200 performers in 14 groups, along with all the ragtag bands of the town, will parade through the streets of Burladingen. The "Hauzeglader" invite everyone to the Fasnet play together with the cash boys and musicians. Starting at 2:30 PM, the individual groups will assemble at the Fehlaquelle by the Fasnet wagon and will be introduced. At 3:00 PM, the Fasnet play will be performed on the wagon in the open air. Emphasis will be placed on tradition: female roles will be played by men, with exaggerated false beards, the clattering of the wooden boxes by the cash boys, the wreaths of the brides, and much more. The Nautle are particularly pleased to see visitors in old costumes, and there will be excellent catering around the Fasnet play. The guild hall will be open, as well as local taverns. After the Fasnet play, "Hauzegscheke" in the form of eggs and bacon will be distributed free of charge to the visitors.
