Porsche Big Band

Let yourself be inspired by the musical enthusiasm of the Porsche Big Band at the concert celebrating the anniversary year "20 Years of Porsche Big Band": an unmistakable Porsche sound created by 20 instrumental voices forming a very special collective. The Porsche Big Band was founded in 2005 and serves as the musical ambassador of Porsche AG. Professional musician Meinhard "Obi" Jenne has been its leader since then. The classic lineup consists of a group of currently 31 musicians who work in various areas of the company. Regular rehearsals and performances take place during their free time.

The Porsche Big Band in brief: a classic big band setup with a 5-part reed section (saxophone section), a 4-part trombone section, a 4-part trumpet section, and a 5-member rhythm section featuring piano, guitar, drums, percussion, double/electric bass, and occasionally a singer.

Leadership: Meinhard "Obi" Jenne has been steering the course of the ensemble with remarkable verve since the band's founding in 2005. Over the years, Jenne has formed a musical community of Porsche employees that captivates the audience with their passionate and experimental style. Regular concertgoers now refer to the band as "the music ambassadors from Zuffenhausen."

With their program, the musicians present an exciting cross-section of 100 years of jazz history. They start with the first major big band jazz songs, the so-called swing from the founding era of jazz, up to the groundbreaking Count Basie. The audience will also experience beautiful grooves, some new arrangements of Latin American pieces, or songs from the pop era that will delight them. Recently, the Porsche Big Band has also added a singer to their ranks, who impressively brings to life the great era of swing and soul, as well as songs by Roger Cicero, with his voice.

Those who experience the Porsche Big Band live at concert halls or open-air events will quickly be swept away by their immense joy of playing. People who contribute during the day to developing and building breathtaking, exclusive sports cars continue their passion as "Porscheans" in music once a week in the evenings, creating something special together.

Currently, 31 instrumentalists and, since 2023, also a singer make up the Porsche Big Band. They come from the most diverse areas of the company and rehearse exclusively in their free time. As diverse as their music is their professional background: from factory workers to engineers, from students to retirees. The development of the band demonstrates what makes Porsche successful: learning from and with each other, openness and respect, as well as the great passion and tireless drive to continually work together to make something unique even better. The first CD, "Traumfahrt," currently documents a wonderful milestone on this journey. And rest assured: the journey of the Porsche Big Band is far from over.
