When Gaby Hauptmann wrote our Hirschen Chronicle for its 200th anniversary, she couldn't let go of a family member: Anna Ruggli, the grandmother of Karl Amann, who bought the Hirschen inn in Horn in 1922 together with her husband August. Her life, shaped by upheaval, inflation, war, and new beginnings, served as an inspiration for Gaby Hauptmann's new novel "Hope for a Happy Future - The Women of the Lake." In August 2024, the second part, "Dream of a Better Life - The Women of the Lake," of the Bodensee saga was published. You can surely imagine: it continues to be moving and exciting. The post-war years and a sudden death keep everyone on edge. The books are available at the reception of Hotel Hirschen Horn and in specialized bookstores.
