World Trade Metropolis Ravensburg? Let Henggi Humpis, a merchant and co-founder of the Great Ravensburg Trading Company, take you back to 15th-century Ravensburg. On his journey through the former imperial city, he will show you the place where the Ravensburg merchants planned their trading activities across the known world at that time: the headquarters of the Great Trading Company. Along Market Street, he explains how the Ravensburg citizens acquired their magnificent houses, the dangers that trade brought, and how they managed to outcompete their rivals. For the former mayor and city clerk, the town hall is, of course, also on the agenda: In the historic council chamber, the Humpis family shaped the city's politics for 77 terms. Where does the family name Humpis come from? "Dog bite! We were certainly sharp-tongued; otherwise, we wouldn't have made it to Genoa. We were more than just dogs!"
