As part of the exhibition project "Shades of Calw," Antje Häusser and Lothar Hudy will jointly showcase their artworks in the town hall foyer in Calw until November 16, 2025. Antje Häusser and Lothar Hudy present their artworks in the town hall foyer: Digital image painting meets scrap metal. From October 18, 2025, Antje Häusser and Lothar Hudy will jointly present their artworks in the town hall foyer in Calw. Antje Häusser studied design and illustration/photography at the University of Applied Sciences for Technology and Design in Constance. She subsequently worked as a lecturer in graphic design, typography, and cross media in Stuttgart, Pforzheim, and Karlsruhe, as well as a PR and marketing expert and designer. At the Academy for Management in Berlin, Antje Häusser studied cultural management while working and has since been working as a cultural manager and artist in the Calw district. Häusser's preferred technique is digital image painting, in which she uses her own photographs, old photos from her archive, graphics, typography, textures, and drawings, which she arranges into a composition under a thematic perspective, artistically enhances, and combines. Häusser captures different viewpoints, various moods, and plays with light incidence and many image details; she invites the "viewer on a journey of discovery," explains Häusser. The works are then printed on suitable substrates, such as acrylic, aluminum, or canvas. Lothar Hudy, born in the Luther city of Eisleben, has long become a Calwer, as he himself says. He arrived in the Northern Black Forest by bicycle in 1962, and since 1980, art has been "the dominant elixir of life" for Hudy. Initially, he created many glass and plaster works, and from the mid-1980s, he began making metal sculptures and kinetic objects. What others throw away inspires him; thus, Hudy creates artworks from materials that others would call "scrap" - such as glass shards, iron rods, wire, or old metal plates. "For me, every touch of the found objects exudes a magic, where I feel their former functions within the time frame of their history," says Hudy about the metal scrap, known as 'Objets Trouvés.' The development of the parts into his plastic sculptures is exciting for him: "Then my photographic memory comes into play, and I dig through my abundant mountains of iron - that alone is meditation." In processing, Lothar Hudy tries to keep the objects as close to their original state as possible - with respect to their form language and their new purpose in the sculpture. The exhibition can be visited during the usual opening hours of the town hall until November 16, 2025. The exhibition project "Shades of Calw" extends throughout the entire year of 2025 and offers selected Calw artists the opportunity to present themselves in the form of a solo exhibition.
