Artworks by ArsCubis at the District Office
For Achim Großmann and Silvia Eisele, the Earth is a cube. With their works, they create a bridge between nature, contemporary forms of expression, and internationally recognized art projects. Cube, square, spirals, contrasting color gradients, wood, metal, acrylic, fabric, paper, and apple varieties from traditional orchards are the elements from which the duo's art emerges. Some works from their series have already been displayed at the Art Biennale in Venice, where they presented the first study of their photographic traditional apple project "Metamorphosis."
The "Metamorphosis" project is connected to a cultural concern: traditional orchards have been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage and find a contemporary artistic interpretation in the works of ArsCubis. This piece now forms a focal point of the exhibition at the Calw District Office as a spatial model of 25 square meters. It is complemented by object art, large-format acrylic lacquer paintings, and other works related to the theme of traditional orchards.
"In the beginning was the cube": The exhibition also features additional 'ArsCubis images' made from up to 4,900 individual beech or maple wood cubes, which have been processed in various ways. Their studio, located directly on the Nagold River, has already been a source of inspiration for many artworks. They have also dedicated works to their homeland, such as "Indian Summer in the Black Forest," "Nagold," "Black Forest," "Silver Arrow," as well as "Autumn," "Spring," and "Frost," which have been artistically placed in dialogue.
Interested parties can find more information at www.arscubis.de and on the social media channels of the artist duo. The exhibition can be viewed during the usual opening hours of the District Office until December 8, 2025. The exhibition project "Shades of Calw" extends throughout the entire year of 2025 and offers selected artists from Calw the opportunity to present themselves in the form of a solo exhibition.
