Christmas Triad Pforzheim

Pforzheim is known as the "Gold City," as the town on the northern edge of the Black Forest boasts a rich history of goldsmithing and watchmaking. During the Christmas season, the winter city literally shines in golden light. The Pforzheim trio of a cozy Christmas market, an exciting medieval market, and an adventurous ice rink is unique in Baden-Württemberg and captivates guests from near and far with its festive charm. The scent of roasted almonds, Christmas spices, and sweet gingerbread fills the air. Year after year, children eagerly anticipate the opening of the Golden Pforzheim Christmas Market, as they traditionally receive sweet "Dambedeis," as the gingerbread men are called here, at the beginning of the festive Advent weeks. From November 27 to December 22, 2023, the marketplace and pedestrian zone transform into a charming Christmas village. Surrounding the "Golden Angel Pyramid" are a golden Ferris wheel and children's carousels, numerous stalls, and one of the largest walk-in Christmas market huts in Germany, showcasing a wide selection of Christmas decorations. A special highlight is the Pforzheim Winter World at the Orphanage Square right by the Enz River: on an eco-friendly plastic rink, young and old can compete in ice skating and curling. Here, too, there are culinary delights, hot mulled wine, or cocoa available for warming up and recharging. Meanwhile, the imaginative medieval market in the Blumenhof invites visitors on a time travel: at historical stalls, old craft techniques can be tried out. Fire breathers, jugglers, and musicians transport visitors into a fascinating world with their performances. And alongside organic bread or waffles from the wood-fired oven, hot chestnuts, or rosemary potatoes, there are offerings such as old mocha, spiced wine based on a recipe from Hildegard of Bingen, or craft beer made from ancient grain varieties.
