"A Christmas Carol"

Deutsche Zentrale für Tourismus e.V.

Berliner Platz 1, 74072 Heilbronn

In English, Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol tells the story of the old, mean miser Ebenezer Scrooge. Unmoved by any Christmas spirit, Scrooge sits in his office on Christmas Eve, tormenting his clerk Bob Cratchit with his malice. He declines the well-meaning invitation of his nephew Fred to Christmas dinner. He chases away beggars who are collecting for charitable causes. Alone and grumpy, he sits in his office. Later, he is visited by the ghost of Marley, his deceased former business partner, and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. They show him the happiness he has missed due to his greed and selfishness, and reveal the loneliness in which he will die if he does not change his life. Scenes from his childhood, the Christmas celebrations of his nephew, and his employee appear before his eyes. Affected by these visions, Scrooge transforms from a heartless old man into a generous person. The malicious old man becomes a favorite among adults and children alike.
