The trio Chotsch comes from Freiburg and consists of: Clarinet - Robert Dietrich, Double Bass - Winfried Holzenkamp, and Guitar, Vocals, Narration - Moise Schmidt. It all started with a love for Klezmer music. Klezmer is the music of the Jews of Eastern Europe, primarily energetic and joyful dances that were traditionally played at celebrations. Chotsch combines this music with modern musical elements in an experimental way. They give Klezmer their own musical signature without taking away its soul. The three are passionate musicians, and their joy in playing is infectious. Moise Schmidt is also a gifted actor and storyteller. He embodies quirky characters and narrates skillfully and vibrantly. The double bass, clarinet, and guitar each contribute to the story. The music and the humorous tales merge seamlessly. It’s the best entertainment for the heart and mind! With their charming blend of music and stories, Chotsch has over the years not only won Klezmer fans but also an audience far beyond that.
