Wine and the Romans. What did they really know about viticulture? Climate change is having a lasting impact on viticulture in our region. The oldest reference books on viticulture were written by Roman authors such as Varro and Columella. What advice did they offer on viticulture, and what significance did wine hold in Roman times?
