Public city tour through Groß-Umstadt

Every first Sunday of the month, the city of Groß-Umstadt offers a public city tour. The guided walk starts at 2 PM at the historic town hall portal in the marketplace. Interested participants will learn a wealth of interesting facts about the city's history in an entertaining way during the approximately 90-minute tour: from Stone Age and Celtic finds to the Roman "Villa Rustica" and the medieval city fortifications, all the way to modern urban development. The history of viticulture and the Jewish history of the city will also be discussed. While strolling through picturesque alleys, participants will discover fascinating historical manor houses and noble courts, visit the Protestant city church, and learn about the model of medieval Umstadt in the column hall. Those who wish can enjoy a small tasting of Umstadt wine at the end. The participation fee for the tour is 5 euros, and children are free. No prior registration is required.
