Christmas concert

With works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Arcangelo Corelli, François Couperin, Georg Friedrich Händel, Pietro Locatelli, Nicola Porpora, and Antonio Vivaldi, the focus of this year's Christmas concert by the Philharmonic Baroque Orchestra Heidelberg will be on great baroque ensemble works by well-known and beloved composers, as usual framed by charming moderation from the participating musicians. Among the pieces to be heard are Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, as well as concerti grossi, solo concertos, and ensemble pieces. There will also be a reunion—at least for regular visitors of Winter in Schwetzingen—with excerpts from the operas "Mitridate" by Nicola Porpora and "La verità in cimento" by Antonio Vivaldi, which were performed in Schwetzingen a few years ago.
