38. Saarwellingen Christmas Market

When the scent of fresh waffles, spicy mulled wine, and festive baked goods wafts through the suburban streets, it's that time again: The Saarwellingen Christmas Market opens its doors. The market will be inaugurated on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 3 PM, accompanied by the festive sounds of the youth orchestra of the music association "Harmonie." This year, visitors can look forward to a unique event: On Saturday evening, Eike Scherler will be on-site to cast a bronze bell for the consecration hall at the cemetery/location, which will be freed from its mold the following day. Inspired by the works of the old masters, Scherler designs and creates the mold based on the model of bells that were made between the early 14th and late 16th centuries. Witness the creation of this unique piece. On both days, visitors can enjoy numerous stalls offering culinary delights well into the evening – from fragrant waffles and homemade baked goods to traditional bock beer, mulled wine, coffee, and cake. Also present this year is Saarwellingen woodcarver Frank Gindorf, who will create impressive sculptures live with his chainsaw. Those still searching for special Christmas gifts will also find treasures in the indoor areas of the cultural center: exhibitors will showcase handcrafted items, wooden toys, knitted goods, and jewelry. The stall operators, the community, and the local heritage and tourism association look forward to your visit.
