Horse market with open sales Sunday

The traditional horse market on March 1, 2026, in Bad Mergentheim will provide a colorful parade spectacle against a historic backdrop. There will also be a versatile merchant market – and the shops will be open. The spa town in the Lovely Taubertal hosts one of the largest events of its kind in the horse market-rich region. The tradition dates back to the 14th century. Tens of thousands of people line the streets to celebrate this unique spectacle. They will see costumed riders and riding groups, historical ensembles as foot groups, magnificent carriages, and alongside nearly 200 horses, also ponies, dogs, and goats. Various bands in colorful uniforms will provide music during the parade. However, the special charm of the Bad Mergentheimer horse market comes not only from the size of the parade but also from the historic setting. As soon as the parade concludes, visitors are drawn to the merchant market with about 120 stalls in the city center. With a colorful array of offerings, amusement rides for children, and the culinary highlights of a gourmet region, the special day continues for the whole family.
