The Jockeleshof Mill in Kirnbach is open and in operation. Guided tours are available.
Built in 1715, the mill still belongs to the adjacent Jockeleshof farm owned by the Aberle family. After World War I and World War II, with the widespread electrification, it shared the fate of the 29 other operational mills in Kirnbach at the time – it was no longer needed and fell into disrepair.
In 1989, a group of friends, together with members of the Black Forest Association and with the support of the town of Wolfach and the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments, began to restore the mill. The overshot customer mill with two grinding mechanisms and a stamp is now operational again. It gives interested visitors an insight into what rural life used to be like.
