German Mill Day

The Jockeleshof Mill in Kirnbach is open and in operation. Guided tours are taking place. Built in 1715, the mill has belonged to the adjacent Jockeleshof of the Aberle family to this day. After the First and Second World Wars, it shared the fate of the other 29 operational mills in Kirnbach, which were affected by widespread electrification – it was no longer needed and fell into disrepair. In 1989, a group of friends, along with members of the Black Forest Association and with the support of the city of Wolfach and the State Monument Office, began to restore the mill. The overshot customer mill with two grinding machines and a stamping device is now operational again. It can provide interested visitors with a glimpse into the former rural life.
