Im Rabbinat 8, 74542 Braunsbach

Pastor i.R. Bernhard Glück invites you to the Rabbinical Museum to explore the historical roots of anti-Judaism and anti-Semitism. The focus is on ecclesiastical traditions and the attitudes of the reformers Zwingli and Calvin. How do prejudices arise – and why do some of them reappear despite historical enlightenment? In his lecture at the Rabbinical Museum in Braunsbach, Pastor i.R. Bernhard Glück from Langenburg invites you to take a closer look: at the roots of anti-Judaism and anti-Semitism within church history and their impact up to our time. Starting from various traditions and schools of thought within the church, the lecture illustrates how statements and attitudes have developed – and why it is particularly important to question them today. Following the special exhibition of 2020 on Martin Luther and his attitude towards the Jews, this time the focus is on other reformers such as Ulrich Huldrych Zwingli (1484–1531) from Zurich and Jean Calvin (1509–1564) from Geneva. An afternoon that invites reflection – on history, responsibility, and the value of conscious coexistence.
