The interpreter and composer Nice Brazil hails from São Paulo and knows how to interpret catchy Bossa Nova songs, world-famous jazz and Latin pieces, as well as samba and Musica Popular Brasileira like few others. Nice Brazil belongs to the new generation of European representatives of Brazilian music. Born and raised in Brazil, she has been living in Germany since the early 1990s and has successfully participated in various projects and festivals. Together with her band, she presents light-footed swinging compositions – including her own – with a very special touch. Her highly trained voice can dance between extremes: spirited or quiet, almost meditative, on the verge of whispering, silence, yet present in every note. Nice Brazil embodies nothing less than the soul of Brazilian music.
At the age of 9, pianist Holger Engel began his classical piano lessons, which fortunately were also infused with boogie and jazz. Since the 1990s, after studying in Mannheim, he has been professionally active as a musician in jazz and popular music, focusing on piano, arrangement, and composition. Stylistically flexible, he travels with bands from jazz, pop, and rock, performing concerts and recording albums, including collaborations with Brazilian pop musicians, tribute shows from Janis Joplin to the Bee Gees to Robbie Williams, and many theater and musical productions in both small and large venues. Studio productions and music for promotional films, among others, fill his calendar at his own recording studio. Recently, his original compositions have found their way onto two albums featuring piano music and crime soundtracks. Currently, Holger still loves the variety and musical diversity. In addition to live performances, some private students, and studio assignments, small, sensitive yet emotionally charged duo formations are a favorite activity. The duo The Best of Brazil Jazz presents a collaboration of high musical caliber, a delight for both Bossa Nova and jazz lovers alike.
