Closing event of the memorial series "80 Years Since the End of World War II" in memory of Julius Leber. The von Moltke couple was part of the resistance network of July 20, 1944, which initiated the failed assassination attempt on Hitler. In 2025, the Alsace Rhin Brisach community association, along with many cooperation partners, will commemorate the end of World War II with various events honoring the life of Julius Leber. A traveling exhibition is dedicated to the German resistance fighter against National Socialism, who was born in Biesheim. The bridge over the Rhine between Breisach and Vogelgrun has been named after him. The artistic conclusion of this year of remembrance in 2025 will be the staged reading "In the Middle of the Net" – a correspondence between Helmuth James Graf von Moltke and his wife Freya von Moltke. They were part of the resistance network of July 20, 1944, alongside Julius Leber. More than eighty years after the failed assassination attempt by the group around Claus Graf von Stauffenberg, an insight into the thoughts and actions of the resistance fighters is both emotionally moving and educational. The initial spark for the assassination was the result of long preparations, secret conversations, and meetings disguised as family gatherings at the estate of Count von Moltke in Kreisau. He was executed in January 1945. We owe it to the courage of a prison chaplain that this unique uncensored correspondence of a couple from the resistance during the Nazi regime has been preserved. The text-music collage revolves around the thought: "The bomb is in the head and not in the suitcase," and leaves no one untouched.
