Until January 11, 2026, the Hesse Museum Gaienhofen presents graphics by the Swiss artist Albert Welti (1862-1912), which have been restored over the past four years with the support of the State Office for Museums Baden-Württemberg. The painter, known for his imaginative worlds of images, was friends with Hermann Hesse. After Welti's death in 1912, the Hesse family resided at his estate in Bern until 1919. There are numerous points of contact between Hesse and Welti, particularly through their mutual friends, including Wilhelm Balmer, Ernst Kreidolf, and Ernst Württenberger. Welti was a student of Arnold Böcklin, which is evident in his imaginative graphics that depict, in part, dark dream and nightmare worlds. However, there are also humorous representations, such as those on numerous New Year's cards that Welti sent to friends and acquaintances. The Hesse Museum Gaienhofen is open in winter on Fridays and Saturdays from 2 PM to 5 PM, and on Sundays from 10 AM to 5 PM. For more information, visit www.hesse-museum-gaienhofen.de. Exhibition duration: November 14, 2025 - January 11, 2026. Accompanying program for the special exhibition: Wed. November 26, 2025, 11 AM, guided tour; Thu. December 4, 2025, 3 PM, guided tour; Wed. December 17, 2025, 11 AM, guided tour; Tue. December 30, 2025, 3 PM, guided tour.
