"In the Ark - Natural Worlds by Verena Fuchs"

In the interplay of color, structure, and light, impressive visual worlds emerge, inspired by nature and memory. Developed freely and without a template, they tell stories that lie between reality and abstraction – vibrant, changeable, and full of expressiveness. Verena Fuchs, In the Ark - Natural Worlds My works arise during the drawing or painting process in the interplay of color, structure, and light. It is initiated by random, initially set structures. Memories of landscapes and natural worlds that I traverse in my mind and studio also play a part in this process. Like in the "Ark," the wealth of variations and the painterly possibilities are often overwhelming, even for me. Engaging with the characteristic opens up natural and fictional options in the play with forms as the essence. In this way, the images tell their own unique story. They go far beyond realistic representation, neither relying on photographs nor painted and drawn before the motif. The extent to which they embody real nature or abstraction remains open. Often, these landscapes are in flux. The "Stone Worlds," which resemble each other both in small and large forms, evade any fixed definition through their lively, diverse, and hardly predictable shape. Through their massive presence and significance, they represent for me the epitome of permanence. Drawing and painting, using various techniques, my images develop. Landscapes and natural worlds emerge "freely and anew, yet not otherwise, as if they must have originated and be visible somewhere." (G. Keller: The Green Heinrich). Verena Fuchs Born in 1951 in Freiburg im Breisgau and raised in Wettelbrunn/Staufen. After graduating from high school, she studied German studies and history at the University of Freiburg. From 1976 to 2015, she worked as a teacher in Esslingen, Offenburg, and Freiburg. Even during this time – intensified from 1982 onwards – she engaged intensively with painting and drawing. In 1991, she began exhibiting her work. Since 2015, she has had regular solo exhibitions and participated in galleries, art associations, and museums. Some of her works are in the possession of institutional and private collections. Verena Fuchs is a member of the BBK. She lives and works in Freiburg.
