A Ceremony of Carols

Christmas concert of the vocal ensemble alto e basso featuring B. Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols" and works by J. Brahms, A. Salieri, and A. Pärt, as well as a "Magnificat" by G. P. da Palestrina to celebrate the 500th birthday of the composer. Admission is free.

This year, the traditional Christmas concert of the vocal ensemble "alto e basso" will center around Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols" in the arrangement for mixed choir and harp by J. Harrison. This cycle of old English Christmas carols will be framed by works of the jubilarian Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (the concert takes place exactly on the 500th birthday of the composer) and Arvo Pärt (90). Additionally, Johannes Brahms' "O Heiland, reiß die Himmel auf" will be performed, as well as the "Sanctus" and "Benedictus" from a mass by Antonio Salieri (who passed away 200 years ago). Sabrina von Lüdinghausen will play the harp, and the concert will be conducted by Prof. Michael Böttcher. Admission to this concert at the Augustinus Church in Heilbronn on December 17, 2025, at 7 PM is free.
