THE STEINFURT-TING 2026 – EXPERIENCE THE EARLY MIDDLE AGES! From September 11 to 13, 2026, Steinfurt-Herbstein in the Vogelsbergkreis will transform into a vibrant setting of early medieval history. The Steinfurt-Ting invites both young and old Viking enthusiasts to embark on a time travel journey to the 10th century – featuring authentic craftsmanship, thrilling battles, and interactive activities for the whole family. Experience craftsmanship up close – and try it yourself! At the crafts market of the Steinfurt-Ting, you will find only genuine artisans who not only offer their products for sale but also create them right on site. Whether it’s hand spinning, glass bead making, pottery, punching, or blacksmithing, etc. – here, history becomes tangible. SPECTACULAR BATTLES & HISTORICAL DUELS More than 300 fighters will compete daily in exciting shield wall battles and conquest scenarios according to Huscarl rules. A special highlight is the Holmgang tournament, where the best will fight for the handcrafted Steinfurt-Ting helmet. VIBRANT CAMP LIFE On the spacious campgrounds, around 80 camp groups will demonstrate what Viking life might have looked like – with cooking over an open fire, historical crafts, authentic equipment, and real camp life for sharing and experiencing. MUSIC, SHOW & FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY The supporting program is also impressive: The Slovak band VALAR will provide musical highlights, enchanting audiences both during the day and at a lively evening concert. On the play and activity area, you can craft and compete in traditional Viking games. A spectacular fire show will light up the night. The archery steppe riders Anton & Boris Zühlke – multiple award-winning vice world champions in Cossack riding – will showcase their skills on horseback.
