Once again, the "Showcase of Arts and Crafts" lures with original gift ideas from the hands of artists, attracting visitors from Stuttgart to Lake Constance. Often copied – never matched. It is considered the most beautiful village Christmas market in the region and has been drawing thousands of shoppers and onlookers to the Nikolaus community by the Klingenbach for over three decades. On the second Sunday of Advent, December 8, the "Showcase of Arts and Crafts," as the Bisingen Christmas market likes to call itself, will open again for one day. For many years, artists and art lovers have eagerly anticipated the second Advent. Then the Bisingen Christmas market opens, offering them the opportunity to showcase their exhibits to an informed audience or, conversely, to purchase unusual and unique gifts, eye-catchers, or decorations for loved ones, themselves, or their cozy homes. The market has a unique success story. Its basic concept has not changed since its inception in 1987 – and therein lies its winning formula. It started small and charming, with only a handful of artisan stalls and just one obligatory mulled wine stand. It was a modest attempt to bring some pre-Christmas cheer to the parish community. However, the concept quickly found widespread appreciation. The market became known among more and more enthusiasts and grew rapidly to a respectable size. Today, it occupies the entire town center, including the marketplace, the church forecourt, and the main street. It could grow even further, but it should not and does not want to. Quality over quantity is its life motto. This sets it apart from events in surrounding communities that share the same name "Christmas Market." It continually earns praise for being the most beautiful of its kind in the area. Its excellent reputation extends from Stuttgart to Lake Constance and from Freiburg to Ulm. From this catchment area, it attracts several thousand guests to Bisingen each year on the second Sunday of Advent. Especially among exhibitors, the absence of commercial hustle and bustle is highly valued, maintaining an atmosphere that fits the pre-Christmas spirit. Visitors, in turn, praise the craftsmanship quality, originality, and pronounced variety of the offered items. Conversations, curious chats, and mutual inspirations also shape the unique character of the Bisingen market. The organizers are almost tempted to forgo advertising altogether. Word of mouth has long taken care of that, as has the collegial grapevine among both the exhibiting artisans and art-loving visitors. Sales on December 8 will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. The patronage of the event has been taken on by Mayor Roman Waizenegger.
