Museum director Dr. Yvonne Istas provides insights into the life and work of Swiss artist Albert Welti (1862-1912) during a guided tour. Graphics from the museum's collection will be presented, which have been restored over the past four years with the support of the State Office for Museums Baden-Württemberg. The painter, known for his imaginative worlds of images, was friends with Hermann Hesse. After Welti's death in 1912, Hesse's family moved into his estate in Bern, where they stayed until 1919. There are numerous points of connection between Hesse and Welti, particularly through their mutual friends, including Wilhelm Balmer, Ernst Kreidolf, and Ernst Württenberger. Welti was a student of Arnold Böcklin, which is evident in his imaginative graphics, some of which depict dark dream and nightmare worlds. However, there are also humorous representations, such as those found on numerous New Year's cards that Welti sent to friends and acquaintances. Registration is desired. Admission: 10 euros.
