Guided Tour Hesse Museum Gaienhofen

Even in winter, we would like to offer a guided tour of the permanent exhibition "Gaienhofener Umwege" on a regular basis. During the tour, the life and work of the Nobel Prize-winning author Hermann Hesse will be highlighted. The young writer settled in Gaienhofen in 1904, freshly married. The small farmhouse that he rented with his wife Mia until 1907 was centrally located in what was then the village center, opposite the Mauritius Chapel. After the birth of their three sons, the family moved into their own house with a garden in the Erlenloh area in 1912. Today, the first residence of the Hesse family houses the Hesse Museum Gaienhofen. The museum also includes another building, the former school and town hall of Gaienhofen, where the artistic and literary landscape of the Höri region, as well as special exhibitions, are presented. The tour concludes delightfully with coffee and cake. Museum tours of the permanent exhibition will take place in winter from November 27, 2025, to January 10, 2026, every Saturday at 2:30 PM.
