Paradisiacal Gengenbach - The World's Largest Advent Calendar House for Great Art in the Black Forest Since 1996, the town hall in Gengenbach in the Black Forest has proven to be a magical attraction during the Advent season: it transforms with its 24 windows into the world's largest Advent calendar house for great art. World-renowned artists such as Marc Chagall and Andy Warhol have turned the town hall into a unique winter fairy tale with their works. This year, paradisiacal images by one of the most renowned contemporary German illustrators, Olaf Hajek, will be presented. With his inimitable, award-winning style, he will enchant visitors. Every evening at 6 PM, the window-opening ritual begins. It is an overwhelming spectacle until the last of the 24 windows is opened, and the town hall shines in all its splendor. The accompanying program on the stage in front of the town hall starts daily at 5 PM and on weekends at 3 PM. Wonderful Christmas scents fill the air and invite visitors to stroll through the Gengenbach Christmas market in a unique setting. From the facade of the town hall to the Löwenberg House Museum: Corresponding to the Gengenbach Advent Calendar, the exhibition will showcase the originals by Olaf Hajek. His illustrations on the theme of paradises are diverse and interpreted in a unique way, complemented by a new accompanying book. The other Gengenbach museums present special events, exhibitions, and panoramic views from the towers. Another reason to stroll through the historic old town of Gengenbach with its atmospheric lighting. The Gengenbach Christmas market also invites visitors to linger.
