Vielbrunner Steige, 63924 Rüdenau

The hike begins at the nature park parking lot located in the center of Rüdenau. First, you walk along the main road towards the inn "Zum Stern" in Rüdenau. From there, follow the marking with a yellow square. The path to the nativity scene is clearly signposted. Small chapels and wayside crosses usher in the Christmas spirit. Those making their way to the nativity scene should be in good physical condition, as the trail ascends about 120 meters in elevation right at the start. The effort is worth it. Soon, the shelter with the lovingly designed nativity scene comes into view.

The idea originated from Willi Lebküchner, who created the nativity scene and has expanded it every year. The stones used in the nativity scene were brought back from his mountain hikes. A self-made stable, many figures, and Advent decorations have led to this impressive structure, which is worth a visit during the winter season. Since the death of Willi Lebküchner, the forest nativity scene has been under the care of the Rüdenau hiking association, which sets it up every year from the second Advent until Candlemas.

Please do not light candles at the forest nativity scene due to the fire hazard!

After a moment of quiet reflection at the forest nativity scene, you return to Rüdenau along the path marked R1. From the nativity scene, continue straight at the wayside cross. At the edge of the forest, there is a beautiful view of Rüdenau, extending all the way to the Engelberg Monastery. The path then leads through orchards back to the starting point.
