Graf-Eberhard-Platz 10, 72574 Bad Urach

Together with the Bad Urach band "Booghk de Doo," Uracher study leader and social scientist Eckhard Ladner presents a colorful kaleidoscope of Ireland in words, images, and music this evening. "Baile Atha Cliath" (the place at the hurdle ford) or "Dyfflin" (black pool) – these were the names of Ireland's capital Dublin among the Celts and the Vikings. Later, it was not only regarded as the "second city" of the British Empire but is today the political and economic center of the Republic of Ireland. Culturally, Dublin also has much to offer as a world city. From there, our journey takes us to the homeland of Eckhard Ladner, to Kerry. This county in the southwest of Ireland is considered one of the most scenic and diverse regions of the "Emerald Isle." Coastal formations with magnificent cliffs and beaches transition into moorlands and dramatic mountain landscapes. The Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula are not only world-famous for their natural beauty but also for their numerous prehistoric and early historic monuments from Celtic and early Christian times. Additionally, the passing Gulf Stream brings about a true wonder of flowers and plants, especially in Kerry. Kerry is also known as a stronghold of traditional Irish music and dance.
