Marc Bühler and Timo Handschuh Guest in Oberderdingen: Advent Concert at the Laurentius Church On Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 7:00 PM, visitors to the Oberderdingen Christmas Market can look forward to a very special highlight: This year's concert for trumpet and organ will take place in the Protestant Laurentius Church in the historic Amthof. The soloists Marc Bühler and Timo Handschuh will present a festive program featuring works by Baroque masters on the newly renovated organ, setting the mood for the upcoming Christmas season. The Oberderdingen concert series has built an excellent reputation over the years and is well-known and beloved among music lovers and connoisseurs. The Advent concert promises to be an unforgettable musical experience. Tickets are available at the box office for 15 euros. Students: free entry. Marc Bühler was born in 1976 in Bretten. He studied trumpet at the Stuttgart University of Music under Prof. Wolfgang Bauer and attended masterclasses with German Brass and Prof. Hannes Läubin. Marc Bühler is a freelance trumpet soloist and actively performs both nationally and internationally. He appears as a guest soloist in various orchestral formations and chamber music ensembles. His concert tours have taken him through Norway, Finland, Hungary, and Austria. He has also participated in numerous CD and radio recordings. Since October 2006, Marc Bühler has been a lecturer at the Karlsruhe University of Education, teaching trumpet and wind chamber music. In 2009, he was featured in "The Great Book of Trumpet Volume 2" by the internationally renowned SCHOTT music publishing house.

Timo Handschuh was born in Lahr/Black Forest and has been teaching as a professor of conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne since 2023. In 2025, he was appointed managing director at the Aachen location. From 2011 to 2021, he served as the general music director of the city of Ulm, and from 2013 to 2019, he was also the chief conductor and artistic director of the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra in Pforzheim. Trained at the renowned Stuttgart State Opera, he went through all stages there, from répétiteur, conductor, to assistant to the then general music director Manfred Honeck. He conducted over 120 performances of major operas such as DER FREISCHÜTZ, AIDA, MADAMA BUTTERFLY, LOHENGRIN, EUGEN ONEGIN, and DER ROSENKAVALIER. As a conductor, Timo Handschuh leads various orchestras and performs at festivals and guest appearances both nationally and internationally, with a total of 15 different CD recordings to his name. His love for sacred music was ignited during his organ and church music studies, which he completed with the A-exam under Prof. Dr. Ludger Lohmann in 2001. From 2014 onwards, he presented a highly regarded BRUCKNER CYCLE featuring the late symphonies of the Viennese master at the Ulm Cathedral. He has composed works of various styles for choirs with orchestra, such as MESSA SUBLIME AMORE (2016), MESSA FEDE RAGGIANTE (2018), his MAGNIFICAT (2021), as well as VENI CREATOR SPIRITUS (2023) and RESTA CON NOI (2024).
